Accounting and Finance Niche Sites

This list includes both virtual communities geared to these candidates, as well as job sites. The former can be just as effective in finding passive candidates (e.g., peruse through the bulletin boards/chatrooms and note email addresses of viable individuals). Also see the list of accounting association sites and Insurance/Claims page for resources in that finance subcategory.

If you're looking specifically in the Washington, DC area, check out this list of associations. Conversely, visit either this or this international list of associations.
  • 100 Careers in Wall Street - Discloses their list of client employers with links. Free to view resumes, but it costs $15 for jobseeker to post one.
  • AccountantsPages is a Yellow Pages just for accountants in the USA, UK, Canada & Australia with subgeography search.
  • Accounting Pro2Net and AccountingStudents - Accounting news, research, products and a virtual community, consisting of a forum and relevant links to associations. The latter domain is focused on those studying accounting. Both are run by Pro2Net (also see previous bullet).
  • American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - This site features a classifieds section for posting employment opportunities and a variety of topic-specific forums (e.g., IT).
  • Association for Investment Management and Research - Launched in May 2000, it already has thousands of job-seeking AIMR members registered: 75% of whom are Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA or CFR designation). AIMR members are portfolio managers, financial analysts and other investment professionals who annually recommit to AIMR's high standards of professional conduct. The site uses Boxwood Technology's functionality/back-end solution.
  • Bank Jobs
  • BankJobSearch
  • BusinessFinanceMag - "online solutions for finance executives" has channels such as risk management and JobLink.
  • CareerBank - accounting, finance and banking focus. They crosspost jobs submitted to them on these 90 professional associations and trade publications in the industry.
  • Career Central For Finance - One of Career Central's newer channels, for the finance professional. It relies on the "JobCast" matching system, connecting employers with talent who meet their specified criteria.
  • CareerJournal - Formerly Careers.wsj.com, The Wall Street Journal's career portal, while trying to be broad-based, still has a focus on finance professionals and executives.
  • efinancialJobs.com - Besides a standard job board, this site provides information about upcoming financial job fairs nationwide.
  • EstimatorJobs
  • Financialjobs.com - This job board targets finance and accounting professionals.
  • Financial Executives Institute - Dedicated to senior level financial executives, this organization's online community includes the FEI Talk Forum and the career center, complete with a job board reaching thousands of job seekers. The Boston area chapter has its own site and resources, too.

  • Healthcare Financial Management Association - HFMA has a job bank, local chapters, etc.

  • Monster.com Finance - Launched July 2000, mega-job site Monster.com has created a special Finance "channel" within their site that draws upon all their industry-specific resources, making it easier for candidates in that industry to find targeted resources. Monster is late to pick up on this strategy: several other mega-sites like CareerMosaic established channel-specific sites for each industry long ago.
  • MyFinancialJobs
  • National Association of Stock Plan Professionals - Yes, the folks who set up company stock benefit plans.
  • NationJob Financial - NationJob is a site with strength in certain regions of the country. Their Finance channel follows the model of other national sites like Monster, etc.
  • Real Estate Accounting Professionals Forum - group supporting accountants specializing in real estate.
  • StreetJobs.com - This New York City-based employment site has the jobs for Merrill Lynch, among many other big financial firms.
  • Vault.com's Investment Banking Message Boards - Vault.com has emerged as a hot virtual community for jobseekers. The financial bulletin boards are among their most active

Second-tier sites

Here are some more accounting-focused job sites, though they are not as robust as those in the previous section.
